                                                                Intel ISEF Awards

     The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF), a program of Society for Science & the Public (the Society), is the world’s largest international pre-college science competition.
                              Each year more than approximately 1,800 student finalists earn the right to attend the Intel ISEF as a result of winning an Intel ISEF-affiliated fair at a local, regional, or national level. Intel ISEF finalists compete on average $4 million in awards and prizes and are judged on their creative ability and scientific thought, as well as the thoroughness, skill, and clarity shown in their projects. Winners from Intel ISEF 2019 were announced on May 16 & 17:
                          Richard Joseph (XI) and Manya M Kumar (XII) of KV No.1 Kochi) won II Grand Award (with Planetary award with $ 2500) under their category in The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) conducted at Phoenix, Arizona, United States, from 12th May  to 17th May 2019.
                        They developed the project "Novel Suction-Bait Trap to Manage Infestation of Melon Fruit Flies in Cucurbits (Code No. PLNT064T), under the guidance of Mr. Ajith S R, PGT Biology,  KV No.1, Naval Base Kochi (Ernakulam Region).
 
                 They also won CAST award (China Association for Science and Technology) in ISEF 2019. ($1200).
                 They were the winners of IRIS National Science Fair conducted at New Delhi last December. 
  
                 They made India proud because this is the only one grand award for India in ISEF 2019. Two small planets in this universe will be named after them. They also received a total prize money of $ 2500 for the two awards.
In twenty years, India has won 29 minor planetary awards. And now they both get one each.
                                                          They made India as well as KVS proud.

      Two students of our Vidyalaya Manya M Kumar and Richard Joseph of Class XII participated in IRIS Natioanal Fair conducted at New Delhi and won the Grand Award 2018 and selected to represent Team India in ISEF 2018 in Phoenix, USA 

                 Two projects from KVS won prizes at NCSC Ahmedabad, are from Ernakulam Region (KV No1. Kochi). They are selected as young scientists and received gold medal and certificates. They are also selected for Sakura Student Exchange programme and visited Japan during the month of May 2018.

Achievements in Nationals Children’s Science Congress 2017

 KVS Regional level Children’s Science Congress 2016-17

                   Regional level Children’s Science Congress was conducted at KV NAD Aluva on  09.11.17 & 10.11.17. Six students of our Vidyalaya participated in the competition and three projects were selected for the KVS National level competition.

           The science project, developed by MANYA M KUMAR and her  team, titled ` THE EFFICACY OF THE SUCTION - BAIT TRAP IN CONTROLLING BACTROCERA CUCURBITAE (MELON FRUIT FLY) IN THE AGRICULTURAL FIELDS OF CHERIYATHEKANAM OF ERNAKULAM DISTRICT..” was presented by RICHARD JOSEPH (X B) at the KVS Regional level  Children Science Congress and become the topper and selected for the KVS Nationals. 

                        The science project , `A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF MASMIN PREPARED BY TRADITIONAL AND IMPROVED METHODS.`, developed by R AVANEESH and his team achieved top position in that sub theme and selected for the KVS Nationals.

                     The science project ,`STUDY OF BIODIESEL EXTRACTED FROM RICE BRAN OIL BY TRANSESTERIFICATION`, done by VISHNUDATH S of class XI D and his team was also selected for the KVS National children Science congress. These project were done under the guidance of Mr. Ajith S R, PGT Biology.

                                                                  KVS National level Children’s Science Congress 2017

                                KVS National level Children’s Science Congress was conducted at  KV ONGC Dehradun and KV ITBP Dehradun from 23.11.17 to 25.11.17. Forty two science projects from different regions were selected for the National Event. And out of 42, six projects were from Ernakulam region, which includes two projects were from our Vidyalaya (KV No.1, Kochi) and Ernakulam region stood first in the competition.

                     The projects presented by Manya M Kumar  (instead of Richard Joseph)  of class XI C, and R AVANEESH of class XI B , were selected for the 25TH National Children Science Congress conducted by Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.

                                        25TH NATIONAL CHILDREN`S SCIENCE CONGRESS – AHMEDABAD 2017

                  25th National children`s Science Congress 2017 was held on 27th to 31st December, 2016 at Gujarat Science City & SAL Educational Campus, Ahmedabad. KVS participated in this event with 42 science projects.

                       The five-day long National Children's Science Congress (NCSC), 25th edition of the event, ended at Science City on Sunday in presence of child scientists, students, teachers and eminent scientists from Gujarat and other states. Students from ASEAN and Gulf countries also participated in the event. The event was organized over past four days at the campuses of Science City and SAL Education with the theme 'Science, Technology & Innovation for Sustainable Development.' A total of 850 child scientists in age group 10-17 years attended the event. The events included participants' project and poster presentations, interactions with eminent scientists, science exhibition by premier scientific institutions, science activity corner, teacher orientation programme and hands-on demonstrations.

                           Fifteen exemplary science projects were selected from 850 projects and the winners were honoured. Only two projects from KVS were came under the first fifteen science projects and that too from our Vidyalaya.

                         The science project titled ` THE EFFICACY OF THE SUCTION - BAIT TRAP IN CONTROLLING BACTROCERA CUCURBITAE (MELON FRUIT FLY) IN THE AGRICULTURAL FIELDS OF CHERIYATHEKANAM OF ERNAKULAM DISTRICT..” was presented by MANYA M KUMAR,   and   The science project, `A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THE QUALITY CHARACTERISTICS OF MASMIN PREPARED BY TRADITIONAL AND IMPROVED METHODS.`, developed by R AVANEESH and his team achieved top positions and both are honoured as Young Child Scientists. These two projects were done under the guidance of Mr. Ajith S R, PGT Biology, KV No.1 Kochi.

G R Jayaraj of Class X got First Prize in Adi Sankara Young Scientist Award 2019 for the Project -ECO FRIENDLY SOLAR POWERED TRICYCLE FOR THE HANDICAPPED. They have given him a chance to visit NASA, USA in the month of September.
